Without a doubt, The Wall is probably my favorite track in all of FD! Granted, I’ve only had the pleasure of being on 3 tracks so far, but The Wall is quite awesome, and if ever you get an opportunity to travel to this venue, I highly recommend it!
Event days always have an early start, so I had my good friend Chad Baptiste pick me up, and we were off to the races. First up, we needed equipment; by a strange turn of events, I landed with a Canon 5D mark III as my weapon of choice, when my booked camera, and all subsequent models of that camera where all simultaneously damaged in a crazy beach and sand dune shoot. They were obviously having way too much fun!
This was my third year attending Formula Drift; my Canon 5D Mark III in hand, secured with a telephoto lens, and monopod all locked and loaded for the day. We headed out from Brooklyn to the Jersey wilderness where Wall Stadium is located.
Arriving just a bit after 11 am, it was already incredibly packed with a giant line that spanned at least a few miles to get into the main parking area! We waited maybe 45 minutes or so, inching incrementally to try to make it to the interior parking setup which, to our dismay, was already filled by the time we got there! So, we ended up parking at a makeshift lot on a huge grassy field adjacent to a church I think, just a few blocks down from the stadium.
By the time we made it inside, Top 32 was well under way. I made my way to my regular spot and set up shop, weather on my side, and a nice cool breeze that cleared the smoke just enough to all for really nice shots in between shots: it was indeed game time!
Enjoy some highlights!
