An original, Turbo II Mazda RX7 FC, dressed in Midnight Black and sporting matching freshly polished chrome Work Equips wheels, pulls up to the meet, and instantly it becomes quiet. The only sounds that escape the vacuum are jaws dropping to the floor, as Frank Leon‘s new rotary queen quietly parks!
At first glance, I thought this was his project RX7 which he has been working on for a few years now. But, it wasn’t so, this vehicle was in fact his new daily. Frank Leon is good friend of mine, and an excellent photographer. His skills in automotive photography allowed him the opportunity to work with State of Stance for some time now, and as one of the original SFLDrifter kids since 2004, he has been an active member within the drift community, not so much as a drifter per se, but more so as a photojournalist. Thinking about it, it’s actually been 11 years since this scene was created! My God how times flies!
This car is immaculate! I mean absolutely flawless and reminiscent of the RX7 driven by Initial D‘s character Ryosuke Takahashi. No wide body kit, no huge aftermarket wing, not to be mistaken for street sweeper with a slammed stance, just a sexy, original manufacturer’s body lines, slightly adjusted ride height with complementing tire and rim size. Nothing too flashy just the right amount of pure sexy!
