Wynwood is the famous art district in Miami. On this Lazy Sunday Jake, Luis, and I decided to grab some shots of the graffiti and murals before the monthly Art Walk gathering happen. We huddled within my 240sx with our skateboards and cameras. It was a short trip to Miami however. I just recently had my engine swapped and didn’t have a chance to hook up the ac. So you could only imagine how happy we were when we got finally got there, to jump out of my car and go skate about in the breezy South Floridian fall weather.
Skating up and down the various streets of the district and stopping to admire the work of the very talent artists. We eventually got a chance to meet up with a local artist: Valentina of Kawaii Universe. By the name of her gallery one can easily know what her artist interest is. Yes you guess it! It was kawaii style art naturally, her focus at the moment was making one off vinyl stickers from scratch. That meant she would make the image, laminate them and cut them by hand. No mass prints from a print shop, just hard work and dedication to her craft. She even offer to skate a bit with us and that was super cool.
We stopped in the only coffee shop to go to when one visiting Wynwood. Panther Coffee the home of some very specialty blends of coffee. We stopped for a refreshing cup of joe and we even got into some of their delicious in house pastry treats, but being the boys that we are, that was not nearly enough to fill us. So our hunger lead us to 100 Montaditos in Midtown Miami were we proceeded to pig out. After our fill of these mini sandwiches, the sun was setting, saying it was time for us to make our way back up north.
