That Last Night in January
Meeting up with Yoilen over the Holidays last year in North Carolina. He did mention that he was going to drive his Toyota JZX 90 down to Florida for shits and giggles. Fun fact, he is one of the only persons I know to have left Florida and yet every time, announces his love for this hot flat sun kissed beach going state. Knowing him for years, nothing is ever just talk. This guy, always has something cooking. Heck it was just last spring when we talked in a Dunkin Donuts about his plan on getting a JZX. The convo was about his plan to take time to build a business venture with friends and then finally save up, to then reward himself with a JZX. At this point he had another four door Toyota. A IS300, which I assume he was just testing the waters with until he got his JZX.
But as life is a ride of misfortunes and opportunities. He was fortunate to make the best with them as they come. Pretty much after selling his truck this beautiful JZX90 came on to his screen like a quick action sequence. He pushed the right buttons and came out on top.
Well the shits and giggles came. A phone call to a few friends, location sorted out and boom! We all got together. Sorry if you didn’t get invited, I was going to make a big thing like a Golden Squats for Yoilen. However, then it would have been more about myculture’s present Yoilen and not about him just wanted to chill with his close friends. The night was chill, reminiscence of the early days of Golden Squats. When there were only about 15 cars compared to official last one which, was over 200 cars when he last came to Florida last April with the whole Spirit Street gang.
It was a pretty chill gallery. Adult Vacation’s type-x 180sx, along side Garage Emperor Silvia and more. Gutter Club USA was in the house! They and Yoilen chatted and planned about their acceptance to Special Stage East of Final Bout! It was fun to know that South Florida finally made it to “that” stage of drifting and being recognized by Final Bout. Was really looking forward to what they planned that night. As it seemed like a bunch of fun shenanigans as they would have meet up half way and then traveled together to Special Stage East. But as we know now the current pandemic of coronavirus covid-19 said hello to all our cool plans, oh well.
We left after some hours of chit chat. On the way home we enjoyed some spirited driving, which is featured in the video. Some other cool parts didn’t get filmed. Mainly because I can’t drive fast and focus on filming at the same time. It is just not safe! In the end the rest of litter gathered at a gas station for a night cap of more convo. Where we met with Camilo and his super characteristic onevia.
So I hope you enjoy that brief moment of chill before things got lock down.
