Welcome to DAGASHI-MART
Dagashi (駄菓子) means inexpensive candies and snack foods. The word came about from taken the Japanese words “da” (“futile” or “negligible”) and “kashi” (snacks). They are made with fun bright colourful packaging, as they are normally for young kids. A store which primarily sells dagashi is called “dagashiya” (駄菓子屋). However this particular dagashiya is mobile. It has all the cool snacks, candies and more with it particular taste for motorsports.

Welcome to Dagashi-Mart
The events seen within this post take place at this year’s first Cars and Coffee Palm Beach which Dagashi-Mart‘s first time vending at an event. They as well had access to full parking row which showcased some of their friends awesome cars. Now flash forward to Formula Drift Orlando, which by this time they have been literally at every major automotive event in Florida. Now since then I have tasted various snacks from Japan all thanks to the owner Jayson. I had the pleasure of catching up with him and we had a little chat which went like this.

shane: So. I know you somewhat from kicking it back at the “golden squats” meet. But to the people who don’t know. Who is Jayson?
Jayson: I am an automotive entrepreneur. That has a long passion for Japanese classics and drifting even though I fined tuned my technical experience as a BMW tech. Anything that has to do with cars, modifications customization and culture I’m in.

shane: That tight man, so what is Dagashi-Mart? Like where, why did the awesome idea of having this mobile snack cart come about?
Jayson: Dagashi-Mart is my mobile shop the offers authentic Japanese snacks and candies. Dagashi meaning inexpensive candies you can eat on the go and mart is for anything else our shop contains that expands the Japanese culture.

shane: Ok so what is your favourite Japanese Snack?
Jayson: Hmmm… so that’s hard, sooo many kinds. I would say it’s between the Umaibō’s which is a corn puff chip that comes in many different flavors. Tohato Japan Caramel Corn chips that has a red red smiley face on the bag. Annnnnnd the singing mic which is a milk strawberry hard candy that taste like chocolate milk.

shane: Where do you see yourself taking the Dagashi-Mart experience in the coming years?
Jayson: Dagashi-Mart has an online store that we would like to offer to people all over the globe. But we are growing our JDM product section and would like to offer authentic Japanese automotive related items for people so they can give their car some JDM style points.

shane: You have a R32 skyline! Why did get it and why do you love it! What’s done to it, tell me all the tings?
Jayson: My all time dream car was this R32. Making it my daily has been a blessing I will forever cherish. My first love was a Corolla Ae86, after owning one for so many years I told myself when the R32 becomes legal it shall be mine! As far as upgrades, because of the vehicle’s age I just want to refresh it to make it as reliable as possible. So all maintenance has been done. But as far as JDM style points I just started the journey with Tein coilovers, front facing intake plenum with front mount intercooler, turbo timer, full hicas delete, full and delete, Hester core delete, and freshly painted the engine bay. Next is big turbo, injectors and tune!!!!

shane: Man I’ve always had a soft for R32! But this lead to me asking about what is Nostalgic Auto Sports?
Jayson: Nostalgic auto sports (N.A.S) is my Japanese importing service. We are here to help clients get exactly what they are looking for in Japan. We created a special order menu that makes it simple for us to know what your looking for and source a vehicle to your liking while saving you a few thousand$$$$ from a JDM car that has already landed in the US.

shane: Well lastly are there any cool things in the future you have planned?
Jayson: I have future plans which are in the works for a nostalgic car meet. I would like for it to be held twice a year at a nice/ different location that to emulate the feeling of Daikoku Parking Area(a famous Japanese parking lot in Japan) and a JDM shop.
