The above film was shot on an iPhone 11 MAX. Pretty happy how it came out, especially for shooting at night and capturing shots on the fly. Hope you lot enjoyed it!
As many of my close friends might laugh at the coincidental effect of when hurricanes come approaching South Florida I happen to find myself in North Carolina seemingly safe and sound, and of Course hanging out with the drift team Spirit Street. Well you are wrong this time! For I had made plans to go see them before all the gust of winds stirred the pot of the Atlantic ocean. So have a laugh at me. I did however the night I hung out with boys over that weekend, for they were at time getting ready for Final Bout Special Stage East! But gremlins found a way to stop the event from happening plus, the majority of the team’s cars were not ready. So it kinda was a blessing in disguise. We ended up eating pizza and later that night we all Yoilen, Chucky, Nicc and others drove around and chilled downtown Charlotte. Since we had time and I had my camera we decided to do an impromptu shoot of Yoilen’s JZX100.
It was fun and chill, and at a point I decided to ask Yoilen some question about his 1jz powered Camry.
myculture – Seriously how long has it been since we knew each other?
Yoilen – We met around 7 years ago.
myculture – Damn, that’s a long time ago haha. So you have leveled up to an awesome JZX100. Last time we took some snaps you had a JZX90 haha. Where did you find the extra 10 JZX points to get this beautiful blackish green car?
Yoilen – The JZX90 was a very good deal and it was only 2 hours away. Being that the JZX90 is a very similar car that’s why I got the JZX100. The JZX100 which this one is a Chaser, is more expensive and harder to come by. I had planned to give myself a couple of years to find one. But I found mine 4 months after owning the JZX90 and fell in love with it. I remember I took a one way flight to Florida after a 12 hour night shift of work, got the car and drove it back to North Carolina. I was awake for 34 hours by the time I got home but it was worth it!
myculture – Wow that is sick, you must have been jacked up on excitement! Really glad you got home safe. Continuing, what would you say are the pros and cons between those two chassis? And why do you love this JZX100 so much?
Yoilen – They are both very similar but different at the same time. The JZX90 having a twin turbo motor is simpler because it has less electronics, but the VVTI 1J in the JZX100 is my favorite. As it’s a newer motor, VVTI, single turbo and sounds better in my opinion. As far as looks, the JZX90 has more of an old school and unique look, but the JZX100 is still my favorite!
myculture – It’s safe to say the JZX100 is your favourite. One thing I never asked, how was the adjustment from drifting your s13 to the JZX100?
Yoilen – It is very different, because they are both great cars. I got used to the RHD(Right Hand Drive) pretty quickly. For me it was not that hard and kinda came natural. There is nothing like driving a s-chassis, they are super fun! But the JZX100 is a car that you can take to any track, take your family out to eat, and take your dog to the park. The only difference when it comes to drifting, is that JZX100 being a bigger car is a little lazy on transition, but if you drive it hard it’s just as fun and they are super reliable. I recently drove the JZX100 2 times, 20 hour round trip to an event and back home
myculture – They are that good huh, I guess four door Toyotas are the best! So for laughs, where is the perfect spot to take the JZX100 on a date in your area?
Yoilen – The mountains, they will love it!
myculture – Nice! Here is another random question, do you avoid the drive thru in the JZX100?
Yoilen – I try to bring someone with me because I get a good laugh of the cashiers reactions, which are the best when they find out the driver is on the other side.
myculture – And the last silly question. Do people other than myself tease you or better mistake the car for a Camry?
Yoilen – Everyone does and some people are serious about it.
myculture – Seen you’ve gotten a new actual Silvia S13, congrats on that. Will the car collection ever stop haha, is it true you got it for an alternative to have something to trash and get really rowdy in?
Yoilen – I did get a Silvia, The reason I got it was to have the best of both worlds, the JZX100 to be a street car and the Silvia would be a full time drift car. I could have fixed my hatch, but I didn’t want to change back and forth from the LHD(left hand drive) and RHD between the two cars while driving. It’s not much right now, but it will be good soon.
myculture – Are you forming a love for RHD cars?
Yoilen – I enjoy drifting RHD a lot more because when you tandem with a LHD car you can see your friends right next to you and shifting with my left hand feels more natural too.
myculture – Big question on everyone’s mind (lol really only me) When are you going to stop playing and get that RHD C6 corvette and hurt everyone’s feelings in that good way that you do so well?
Yoilen – Once I get tired of all these Japanese toys haha! But a RHD Corvette would be cool.
myculture – Is it all 100% hustle, savings and good credit or you are actually a Hotboi (aka drug dealer)?
Yoilen – Good Credit, JK it’s actually Only Fans
myculture – Haha I will sign up and help out! However I know this year has been a wild one for everyone, However how are you and the team holding up?
Yoilen – Even though this year has been one of the hardest years for everyone, we have all been fortunate to have work and have a job the whole time. Thanks to Amazon I have a good job and somehow I’ve been fortunate to drive more than ever.
myculture – How does it feel to be an inspiration to the drift car culture?
Yoilen – I do this for fun and because I love it. Inspiring other people is what keeps me going.
myculture – Do you ever miss South Florida?
Yoilen – I miss South Florida everyday and can’t wait to move back.
